What is Global DNS?

When a new domain is setup in Helm, A records (pointers from a domain name to an IP address) are created on the DNS servers to correctly resolve the domain name to the right servers. A records are automatically created for FTP, Mail (both A and MX records), and WWW (both WWW and @). So, when a domain is first created, it's created with ftp.domain.com, mail.domain.com, and www.domain.com all pointing to the appropriate server IPs.

You can also specify additional DNS records you want set up with EVERY domain created under your reseller plan, hence the name Global DNS. In other words, say you want to create the ability for every user under your reseller plan to go to stats.theirdomain.com. You would simply create a Global DNS A Record pointing to the stats server IP and now everyone can easily get to the stats server without having to remember too much.

Just keep in mind changes are not retroactive, so if you enable Global DNS after some domains have already been created, the old domains will not inherit the new Global DNS settings. You would have to manually add those records to each domain individually.
